On average, up to 50% of the air that circulates in your home originates from your crawl space. Routine crawl space cleaning helps you remove unwanted debris and damp conditions that attract pests while improving your home’s indoor air quality. Crawl space cleaning also removes dust, insect and pest droppings, mold, and other factors that reduce air quality within your home.

Soda Blasting works in the same principal as sand blasting but without the damage or aggression that is or can be caused by using sand.

When the blasting media comes from the nozzle, our compressor pushes 265 cfm (cubic feet per minute). When the soda contacts the floor joist and subfloor, each grain of soda cleans a surface area three times larger than the grain itself. Because each grain of soda contacts the material being cleaned, the grain explodes upon contact.

In that process when the soda meets mold spores, the spore itself is ruptured leaving it non-viable. The root system that mold colonies develop to digest cellulosic structures is removed as well by the cleaning process.

After being soda-blasted, the wood will have a light sanded feel. Plumbing pipes, electrical lines, and A/C ducts are rigid enough in design that the blasting will not damage them. It’s important to note that soda blasting is not a bleaching process and will not remove dark stains from the structure. Soda is a green product, so leaving the residue under the home is safe. Soda, by nature, is hydrophilic, meaning it will absorb a lot of moisture from the environment it’s in.

Once the crawl space is soda blasted, encapsulated, and kept under humidity control, there is no reason for mold to reappear. If the ambient air is kept at 60% or less relative humidity, the wooden structure will not absorb enough moisture to grow mold unless there is a leak of some degree, putting moisture back into the environment.
